Nicki Has Retired, but There is Still Hope!

Posted by Imani Gabriel on

Though one of our rap queens Nicki Minaj has stepped down from her throne, there is still hope for the Female Rap Game. Many other female rappers are out here serving confidence, sexiness, dope bars, and style just as the Barb has throughout all her years of rapping. Let's put you on to some new rap femme fatales:

1) Megan Thee Stallion

The H-town Hottie has made a big name for herself with the success of her albums Tina Snow and Fever and from hits like "Big Ole Freak" and one of her latest and greatest "Hot Girl Summer." Her Texas swag, seductive lyrics and commendable twerk skills put her high up in line to potentially receive the rap queen crown.

2) Doja Cat

Doja Cat gained success from her unintentionally viral video "Mooo!" that includes Doja eating burgers and milkshakes while dressed in a cow suit. The cowgirl's  popularity did not end there though. She has put out many more bangers since her viral cow video from "Tia Tamera" which features rapper Rico Nasty to her most recent song "Juicy." Like Nicki, she loves embracing her thickness that of which you can see "from the front" and the back!

3) Kash Doll

You may know Kash Doll from her popular song "Ice Me Out," but those who have been following the boujee rap queen since before the icy hit know classic bops like "For Everybody" and "Check." Kash Doll is lyrical and by far one of the most skilled female rappers out. Since Kash Doll and Big Sean released "So Good" in 2017, they have been an iconic musical duo, so you know that their newest bop "Ready Set" does not disappoint... but see for yourself:

4) Mulatto

Mulatto started on the popular show "The Rap Game," and was signed to Jermaine Dupri's record label So Def after winning the show in 2016. That brace-face little girl with bars turned into a sassy grown female boss who dominates in her craft. She has come a long way since "The Rap Game," dropping multiple banging albums, one of which gave us her currently most popular song "B*tch From the Souf." Mulatto is currently on her BIG LATTO tour bringing her Southern swag all over the nation. She "ain't athletic" but her bars stay jumping! With her sexy confidence and tactical bars, Mulatto is coming for her crown as the "Rap Queen of the South."

5) Saweetie

The Bay Area rapper is best known for giving old classics a new icy twist from her Khia "My Neck, My Back" remake "Icy Grl" to her first Billboard Hot 100 entry the "Freak-a-Leek" remake, "My Type." If you all thought "My Type" couldn't get any better, Saweetie released a remix featuring Jhene Aiko and the City Girls that absolutely slaps! Check it out.

6) Rubi Rose

Rubi Rose, not to be confused with the OITNB star Ruby Rose, is more than just a pretty face. The girl has bars, and I means BARZZ! Her song "Big Mouth" has got a lot of people's attention, and after the drop of the "Big Mouth" video, which is also her first music video out, it is a known fact that Rubi is coming strong in the female rap game.

7) Cardi B

And of course, let us not forget Cardi B. Most of you already know the "Bodak Yellow" rapper who does not need any more "PRESS" !! ...though she still gets plenty, but her authenticity and style makes her a unique contribution to the rap game. Cardi B was the first female rapper since Lauryn Hill to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart without a feature, she has the most simultaneous Billboard U.S. Hot 100 entries by a female artist, her album Invasion of Privacy broke an Apple music record for the most first-week plays for a female artist, and Cardi has many more albums set to break. This Bronx rapper has made a strong mark on the rap game, and she is definitely here to stay, PERIODT.
